Image detector

NG-3: how it spots scams in images

It's the model that gives the bot a second look. It works with other signals and never decides on its own that someone did something wrong.

  • Doesn't keep your images
  • Only if you turn it on
  • A person reviews submissions

How it works

What happens to an image

It all happens in seconds, in the memory of the machine the bot runs on.

    1

    The image arrives

Someone posts it in your server and the bot downloads it from Discord.

    2

    It gathers signals

It reads the text, checks phrases and domains, compares it with confirmed scams and looks for bursts of posts.

    3

    NG-3 compares it

It turns it into numbers and sees whether it looks more like scams or like normal images, such as memes and real screenshots.

    4

    The risk decides

It only deletes when the case is convincing and your server allows it. It leaves a short notice and an alert for moderators.

Scope

What it checks and what it doesn't

It checks

  • PNG, JPG, WebP and GIF images up to 8 MB, up to 4 per message.
  • The channels the bot can see, only if you turned the detector on.
  • In GIFs, up to 4 frames of the animation.

It doesn't check

  • Messages from other bots.
  • Anyone with Manage Messages or Administrator.
  • The people in the image: there is no facial recognition.

Learning

How your reports make it better

If a scam slips through or it deletes something normal, you can send it from the panel. It's voluntary and asks for your consent.

    1

    You send it

From Scam detector. PNG, JPG or WebP up to 5 MB.

    2

    A person reviews it

The team decides whether it's a scam, normal or rejected.

    3

    A fingerprint is made

If approved, a numeric fingerprint is saved in the scam list or the allowed list. That way, next time that image or a very similar one shows up, the bot already recognizes it.

    4

    We delete our copy

The copy you sent us is deleted from our system once the fingerprint is made, or right away if rejected. The original image on Discord is not touched.

Your submissions teach the detector: once approved, they become a fingerprint that trains it for next time. They are not shared with anyone.

Privacy

What we do with your data

Normal images aren't kept

Analysis happens on the spot. The image exists in memory for a few seconds and is discarded.

What you send is encrypted

Each image has its own keys and is padded to hide its size. Only the bot and the panel can open it.

Illegal content

If someone sends something illegal, especially involving minors, their access is suspended and law enforcement is notified.

What NG-3 doesn't do

  • It doesn't identify the people in an image.
  • It guarantees nothing: it can be wrong both ways.
  • A similar style isn't enough to delete.
  • It can delete without a person stepping in at that moment. You have the right to ask a person to review it.

Questions

What people ask most

No. It's analyzed in memory and discarded. An image is only kept if you send it for review.
Tell the moderators. An administrator can send it as a false positive from the panel and, if approved, the bot stops deleting it.
NG-3 also learns normal examples, like memes and real screenshots. Looking like a scam isn't enough to delete.
The bot, following the server owner's settings. If you think it was a mistake, ask for a person to review it.
Yes. It's off by default and the owner turns it on or off whenever they want from the panel.

Found a mistake?

From Scam detector in the panel you can send the image so the team reviews it.
